| A Review of the American Express Card |
|
|
Not knowing what actually I was getting myself into I decided to switch from Visa to American Express card. I thought it would be easy and simple – fill a form in and get the classic green American Express card and be done.
However, it turned out that over the years the company had introduced so many different cards with different perks, protections, bonuses etc. with each one of those there was a different fee and annual interest associated.
That’s why, not being actually good in reading the “small print”, I decided to use the help of an independent consultant. I got a third party to help me decide on the American Express card that suits my needs best.
Over the internet you can actually get all the information you need about credit cards. There are websites that help you compare in details all the types of credit cards offered by the banks.
It did help me a lot as I clearly saw all the differences in interest rates and all other features such as special rewards, reduced fees etc. I also saw the difference between American Express and its competitors so I was able to take a more informed decision.
As soon as I actually got the answers to the two questions I had about how these websites work, I visited them. Luckily my questions were easy and I got my answers very quickly. The first thing that was bothering me was if I would in fact get a genuine American Express card issued to me directly from the company, or would I get a card backed by some unknown one instead.
And the answer was fair enough. If I filled out an American Express credit card application I would get an American Express indeed. The only job the website is doing is providing information and sending your application to the bank in order to get a commission.
The second concern I had proved to also be unreasonable and my mind was easily put at ease. I was wondering if it was and to what extent it was secure to provide personal financial information to third parties over the internet.
However there was no reason to worry as the application form that I was supposed to fill out with my details were not on the agent’s website, but on the official site of the issuer of the card itself and the information goes directly to them. The American Express card application I filled was sent over a secure server and all the information never reached a third party.
In my opinion the websites offering side-by-side comparison of credit cards are a great help for consumers. Checking those sites out will definitely help you choose the best offers and the greatest deal while shopping for your American Express card.
Apart from being absolutely free, those websites save you time and efforts and offer you the easiest way to apply, guaranteeing you a brand-new American Express card delivered to your wallet in no time at all.
