How to Accept Credit Cards Online E-mail
I recently finished setting up a website to sell some great niche products that I had a hand in developing. At first, I was very excited about this new business opportunity because I know there's a market out there for what I'm selling. But my site has been fully operational for a few weeks now and I've only received a fraction of the amount of orders I initially projected.
 
There's a good amount of traffic on my site, so I know potential customers aren't having any trouble finding me; they're just not ordering. I had a friend review my site and he immediately spotted the problem. I wasn't set up to accept credit cards online.

When I was first getting my site in order, I thought about signing up with a service to allow me to accept credit cards online. However, I was working against a tight deadline and decided to skip that step in the beginning.

 
I eventually wanted to accept credit cards online, but figured I'd be ok going with PayPal and Google Checkout for a while. Apparently, not as many people use those payment options as I'd counted on. It looked like I would indeed have to get set up to accept credit cards online sooner than I anticipated.

I didn't know the first thing about how to accept credit cards online, so I asked my friend about it. He told me I'd have to open up a merchant account with a service company that specializes in helping website operators accept credit cards online.
 
He mentioned that I could do it quickly by upgrading my PayPal account, but I didn't like the looks of their fee schedule. I thought that if there are as many companies out there that help business owners accept credit cards online as my friend said, there ought the be some pretty low rates available due to competition.
 
I spent a bit of time shopping around and compared the rates, terms of service, and features of some of the more popular merchant account providers. When I found a service that offered good features with low rates, I signed up and got started right away.

Now that I'm able to accept credit cards online, I'm finally starting to generate the level of income I expected from my site. Who knew that the solution would be so simple? I'm just glad that my friend was able to spot to problem quickly and help me get on the right track.
 
If you're experiencing low sales volume despite high levels of traffic, make sure you can accept credit cards online. That did the trick for me and might help you as well.
